Otis Kicks Off "Online Ambassador" Program

Otis Rolley, the leading challenger to Mayor Rawlings-Blake, today announced the kick-off of his “Online Ambassador” campaign through which supporters will keep their social networks up to date about what Otis is doing and why he is the best choice to be Baltimore’s next mayor.  Earlier in the campaign, Otis, who is an active social media user, adopted FourSquare after the Mayor failed to follow other cities' lead in declaring April 16th “FourSquare Day.”

“I am a regular Twitter and Facebook user because I believe social media is a great way to communicate directly with friends and supporters about what I am doing and my plans for Baltimore,” said Otis today.  “Social media is one of the best ways for people to learn more about me and my plans to make Baltimore a great city again directly from someone they like and trust, which is why my ‘Online Ambassador’ campaign is so important.”

Otis is working with local tech firm Social Toaster to create the “Online Ambassador” campaign.  Using the Social Toaster platform, Otis’ supporters will be able to immediately update their social networks about what’s going on in Otis’ campaign and why this year’s election is so important.  Supporters are able to choose which social networks to update – Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn – and how often to update their friends or “status”.

“This election is incredibly important to Baltimore’s future.  We can either accept that we can’t create jobs, that we can't reduce crime, that neighborhoods have to take a back seat to downtown – or we can believe in Baltimore,” closed Otis.  “For everyone who believes in Baltimore, I hope they sign up as an ‘Online Ambassador’ to help spread my message about what can be done to their social networks.”
